Degree Show 2011

I've finally finished! here is my final stand consisting of a collection of scarves and suitcases, i decided to display some of my scarves in embroidery hoops to create a frame around a certain part of the scarf. sorry about the picture quality i had to take it on my phone as i didn't have my camera, ill try get a better one soon.

The open evening was such a good atmosphere it was nice to hear people being so complementary about my work!

Everyone done so well and the show looked amazing!

Reinventing old fashioned suitcases.

first one finished, bit of a nightmare but i do love it!

These are the suitcases i found and i love them!! not only are they amazing they were such a bargain too! The little blue case was from a 50s furniture warehouse and i got this for £7 and the other two were from a car boot sale and i got these for £1 each! I plan to re-line or cover the outsides with my own prints carrying on from my scarves but using a different colour pallet and different scale.

I have just found these amazing suitcases by Basso & Brooke for part of the turning leaf range, the colour pallet is brilliant and the prints are something else! i am so inspired by these and I am so glad Ive found them, i have an idea of how I will actually go about doing them now!

Thursday's Inspiration - James Gulliver Hancock

i'am so inspired by James Gulliver Hancock at the moment i love the way he uses the media in his work, i have been inspired by the heads with the explosion of personality, dreams and thoughts, James seems to draw everything and anything possibly from his imagination and everyday things? I want to try my own head in his style, creating a dream, imagination for my festival theme.

here is my start to my very own James Gulliver Hancock piece following on from original collage heads shown earlier on.
